The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679 is a regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy for all individuals within the European Union and the European Economic Area. The GDPR also addresses the export of personal data outside the EU and EEA and came into effect on the 25th May 2018. In line with the GDPR, this Privacy Policy describes how International Development Ireland collects and processes personal information about you; how we use and protect this information, and your rights in relation to this information.
This Privacy Notice applies to all personal information we collect from or pertaining to you. Personal information is information, or a combination of pieces of information that could reasonably allow you to be identified.
If you do not accept that we process your data in the manner detailed in this policy, please do not submit any personal data to us.
For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, unless otherwise noted, all references to International Development Ireland include International Development Ireland Group and our subsidiary companies.
International Development Ireland is the data controller in the Republic of Ireland for the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 International Development Ireland will deal with the Irish Office of the Data Protection Commissioner as the Lead Supervisory Authority for regulating all data protection matters within the organisation. At International Development Ireland, we guarantee that all the data you send to us is processed fairly and lawfully, with due skill and care and used in accordance with the purposes as set out in this policy.
How Do We Collect and Process Personal Information?
International Development Ireland collects personal data via our website through training enquiry and registration forms, contact us forms and CV submission functionality. In addition to online forms and cookies we also request and collect information provided directly by you via the International Development Ireland email system.
Personal data collected will generally consist of biographical information including; your name, contact details, employer details and other information contained in your professional profile or CV (including current employment, career history, academic and professional qualifications and membership of professional, public or private representative and government bodies).
Where people are being employed by or contracted by International Development Ireland or availing of International Development Ireland training or study visit services, additional personal information will be required to facilitate employment, contracting or other legitimate interests associated with the provision of IDI consultancy and training services. This may include information required for mobilization, compliance and payment services, such as bank account details, national identification numbers, passport and visa details, evidence of education qualifications, health and emergency contact details.
This data will only be held for as long as it is required to provide such employment, contracting or IDI services and will be deleted once your employment, contract or service provision has ended and where the data is not required for any other legal or contractual purposes.
The personal data will only be requested, stored, processed, used and disclosed by International Development Ireland in line with one or more acceptable legal bases. We collect and process personal information in order to;
- Pursue our legitimate business interests related to operating our consultancy and training business,
- Enter into and discharge contractual obligations and,
- Comply with legal obligations.
The specific purposes for which information is used include;
- Recruitment and contracting new IDI employees.
- Building and maintaining an up-to-date panel of experts who wish to be considered for inclusion in current and prospective projects.
- Communicating with you about relevant job opportunities for employment in International Development Ireland or consulting opportunities with IDI.
- Sending expert profiles, bios and cv’s in full or summarized format to our clients and prospective clients where positions for experts arise that we determine may be suitable for you.
- Responding to requests for information or participation in International Development Ireland training courses.
- Communicating with customers regarding upcoming training programs.
- Registering participants on International Development training programs or facilitating associated hotel, travel of visa processes.
- Where we have a bona fide requirement by law to disclose it to third parties in relation to the detection of crime, the collection of taxes or duties, in order to comply with any applicable law and court orders.
This list is not exhaustive and we may seek to process, use or disclose your information for other purposes which have not been listed above. In this eventuality you will be informed by way of updates to this policy or, if applicable, we will request your explicit consent.
We reserve the right to assign your data to a third party in the event of a sale, merger, liquidation, receivership or transfer of all the assets of our company in circumstances where the third party agrees to observe the terms of this Privacy Policy.

The first cookie (named: has_js) is a general check to see if your browser has Javascript enabled. This allows us to design and animate the site consistently when viewed in different browsers. This cookie does not request or store any personally identifiable information. It expires as soon as the visitor leaves the site.
The second cookie (named: Drupal.session_cache.ip_geoloc) is a cookie used by the geo location functionality built into the site. This cookie analyses your location data to tell the site where you are located so it can automatically present you with customised content. The website interprets the following information from the site visitor and stores it in the cookie: region, country_code, country, region_code, city, zipcode/postcode, latitude, longitude, time_zone, ip_address, timestamp, formatted_address. This information is not stored on the website database. Only in the cookie. The cookie expires after 1 week. The site also uses Google Analytics to track visitor activity on the website. These cookies are used to collect information about how visitors use our site. We use the information to compile reports and to help us improve the site. The cookies collect information in an anonymous form, including the number of visitors to the site, where visitors have come to the site from and the pages they visited. Notably, no personably identifiable information is collected. The website honors Universal web tracking opt-out if you as a visitor have a related option configured in your browser.

Who Can Access your Data?
International Development Ireland rely on third party providers to perform a variety of service on our behalf including; website hosting, email security, file storage and backup, IT encryption and virus protection, payroll services, pension and insurance services, travel bookings and visa processing services.
The information that you have provided to us may be made available to personnel working in International Development Ireland, our affiliate companies, our outsourced business service providers and clients.
Where your personal information is required to be sent to clients, prospective clients or outsourced service providers outside the European Economic Area you will be informed and we will take the appropriate steps to guarantee that your privacy rights continue to be protected as detailed in this Privacy Policy.
Security of your Personal Information
We are committed to the protection of Personal Information submitted to us. In order to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. We use a variety of security technologies and procedures to help protect your personal information from unauthorised access, use, or disclosure.
While International Development Ireland takes all due care in ensuring the privacy and integrity of the information that you provide, we recognise that no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. The possibility exists that this information could be unlawfully observed by a third party while in transit over the Internet. International Development Ireland accepts no liability should this occur. We will retain your personal information in accordance with our data retention policy which sets out retention periods required or permitted by applicable law.
We will use our best endeavours to ensure that all Personal Data that you have submitted to us is maintained and up to date. However, it is your responsibility to inform us of any changes to your Personal Data to ensure that it is up to date.
The General Data Protection Regulation provides you with a number of rights under the legislation. We will respond within one month of the receipt of your request or inform you in circumstances where an extension may be required.
- Right of access. You have the right to be provided with details of the processing of your personal data and to obtain a copy of the personal data we hold about you, subject to applicable exemptions. To help us better deal with your request please provide us with the information necessary to identify you and to identify the personal data you require. - Right to rectification. If the personal data we hold on you is inaccurate or incomplete you have the right to rectify such personal data and we would encourage you to ensure the personal data we hold on you is kept as up to date and accurate as possible.
- Right to Erasure. You have the right to request the deletion of your personal data where there is no compelling reason for us to continue processing it.
- Right to restrict processing. You can request the restriction of the processing of your personal data where you contest the accuracy of the information; where you object to processing which is based on legitimate interests; where the processing is unlawful and you wish to restrict the processing rather than seek erasure; or where we no longer require to retain your personal data but you wish the personal data to be held while you establish, exercise or defend a legal claim.
- Right to data portability. You can request to receive your personal data, which you provided to us, in a structured, commonly used and machine readable format and have the right to transmit this data to another organisation.
- Right to withdraw consent. If we were to process your personal data on the legal basis of consent you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. If you withdraw your consent we will no longer be able to carry out processing based on your consent. However by withdrawing your consent it does not invalidate any processing which was undertaken prior to the withdrawal of your consent.
- Right to object to processing. You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests and to direct marketing.
